As you all know, 2020 is a very special year!

First, given the situation with COVID-19, we chose to postpone our major reorganization and focus on where we were most needed: online, ensuring that young people have a supervised virtual gathering place for their entertainment and education. Thus, we created the project Gamers in quarantine [French website]. This has resulted in a delay in the release of the training courses and the new platform we were preparing.

Secondly, a technical problem corrupted the database of our website. This forced us to publish this site much earlier than originally planned. Indeed, you will see that there is a lot of “available soon”.

In concrete terms, what’s going on and why a bilingual site instead of only in French?

The answer is simple: the Virtual Guardian Foundation, in a very large partnership with the Esports Institute of Education and Technology (EIET), is taking a new approach worldwide, rather than exclusively in Quebec. We are currently developing partnerships on almost every continent to work on a large scale to promote responsible digital consumption.

With this in mind, we are actively working with AQPS to develop the second version of the Suicide Prevention Guide for Gamers (2018). This guide will be available in French and English and will then be adapted for international distribution. With the resources of the EIET, we will also be able to turn it into an online introductory training course!

At the same time, we are working with professionals, such as Magali Dufour, to develop concrete tools that will help prevent cyberaddiction and other web-based problems.

Finally, we are proud to expand our research collaborations with new projects in the United States and Europe.

Thank you all for your support! If you would like to collaborate with us, please contact us on our Facebook page.
